Meeting Minutes: ShaRae Russell
Approval of minutes from April’s meeting. Miss Littlewood made the motion to approve
minutes and Kim Skidmore second the motion. The meetings are posted to Memberbub
and school website.
Treasure’s Report: Colette Erickson
The Library was able to purchase some neat STEM manipulatives with the PTA grant
money. The students are really enjoying those. Some other expenses this month were
yearbooks, class parties, staff appreciation and water and granola bars for the students
after the Fun Run.
Colette Erickson motioned to amend the budget to a total of $35,000.00 for the new
playground equipment Sandy Green voted to approve and Kristin Zamora second - all in
attendance voted in favor to approve the amendment.
Colette Erickson motioned to amend the staff appreciation budge with an increase of
$300.00 – Karly Leishman second the motion and all in attendance voted in favor to
approve the amendment.
Income this month was from the Book Fair, yearbooks, t shirt and a huge amount from
the Fun Run. The Fun Run raised $65,671.68 total (see Fun Run below for more
information)
Based on the budget from the beginning of the year and money earned this year, next
school year PTA should start with about $41,570.43 in the budget.

The PTA also asked Mr. Adams about possibly using some of that money for a Ball Wall
for the upper grades. Mr. Adams is in contact with the District and waiting for more
information on this.
The PTA will also have to look at amending some line item budgets for next year since
the student body is continuing to increase.
Teacher/Staff Report: Miss Littlewood
Teachers are very grateful for the PTA and their part in making fieldtrips and class
parties possible. Also, they are thankful for the support for teacher appreciation week.
Miss Littlewood presented Karly with thank you cards from the teachers.
Fun Run: Karly Leishman
The Fun Run earned a total of $65,671.68. Kanesville gets to keep 78% of that and
Booster gets 22%. Making the total earnings for Kanesville $51,370.00. There is also an
option for a Corporate Match. Karly has contacted all the companies; so potentially
there could be another $3000.00 coming in from businesses. This was a huge amount
of money earned and the PTA discussed how fortunate we are live in a community with
such great support. More donations came in from nonparent donators. 57% of students
were registered. There was a special challenge given to the 6th grade classes (to see
who could get the most donations in one night) and Mrs. Davis class had the highest
overnight increase and all received Fun Run t-shirts. The amount of money earned each
year from the Fun Run has continued to increase!
In order to secure dates for a Fun Run next year Booster requires a deposit of
$2000.00.
Colette Erickson motioned to amend the budget for $2000.00 making a new line item for
securing dates with Booster for next year’s Fun Run. Kristin Zamora motioned to
approve and all in attendance voted in favor of approving the amendment.
The dates for the Fun Run next year will be as follows:
Kick Off- April 12th Fun Run- April 21st Theme: Grand Land Adventure – is about three cousins going on a trip together to five
different National Parks. Character traits will be gratitude, bravery, stewardship,
perseverance and wonder.
Feedback:
-Three tracks worked great
- Silverwolf mascot was lots of fun
- Parents liked the “fan zone”

Suggestions for next year:
-Assign classes a track ahead of time and send out the list so parents know which track
their student will run on.

Family Movie Night: Colette Erickson and Kristin Zamora
The Family Movie Night is next Friday May 13th at Kanesville on the front lawn. The
movie is the Chronicles of Narnia. Food trucks will be there at 5:30 and the movie will
start at 6:00. The food trucks will be The Smoking Box Car as well as the Fremont High
School Boys Lacrosse team. The Lacrosse team is using it as a fundraiser and will have
nachos, hot dogs, drinks and snacks. The PTA will provide free popcorn.
Playground: Mr. Adams
The purchase order is in for the new playground equipment. The prediction is that the
old playground will be removed in September 2022 and the new one installed same
time. The District will be in charge of the removing and installing the equipment.
Summer is the busiest time for the District when it comes to repairs, thus the reason for
the September removal/install date.

Field Day: Colette Erickson
Field Day will be May 24th. The dunk tank is reserved (reward for reaching the Fun Run
goal). The PTA always provides popsicles. In the past the lunchroom has been able to
order Creamies and a budget of $200 has covered the cost. This year they aren’t able
to order the Creamies.
Colette Erickson motioned to amend the budget, and double it, from $200 to $400 to
buy popsicles for the students at Field Day. Miss Littlewood motioned to second and all
in attendance were in favor to approve the amendment.
Book Fair: Val Fielding
The Book Fair was low on supplies again this time. But still there were lots of books
sold. The teachers were each given a reward of books for their class and the Library
received money to buy books too.

Dates to be aware of:
May 6th Early Out

Membership: Rachel Rogers

$4377.78 for the upcoming Book Fair Feb. 7 th-11th
$220.71 for class parties. $354.46 for
Reflections and $400.00 for scholarships (this is donated to Fremont and is usually $200 a year, but got missed last year so we paid double this year). Some other expenses student of the month, 6 th grade party, The Jubilee and T-shirts totaling $507.27 for December. Income for November and December came from memberships, yearbooks, banners, school shirts, and Amazon Smiles. *We sold the most school shirts ever this year!

Teacher/Staff Report: Miss Littlewood

Teachers are glad to be back from break. There are some midyear assessments that are going to be starting soon. Make sure your student eats breakfast and dresses appropriately for the weather.

Reflections: Karly Leishman
We had some students that received awards and there will be an award ceremony for them.

Christmas Tree Jubilee: Karly Leishman
The Jubilee was very successful! The Kanesville Choir sang and the tree from the PTA was invited to be upstairs in the live auction and sold for $2300.00 The Foundation is raising money to put Zen rooms in schools.
PTC Dinner: Karly Leishman
Kim Skidmore scheduled the dinner for February 9th and is planning to cater Hawaiian.
PTA members signed up to bring desserts.

Junior Achievement: Karly Leishman
Junior Achievement was successful and fun. In the future it would be helpful, especially in the younger grades, to have two parent volunteers. One could teacher and the other to be there to hand out papers and help with activities.

Playground Equipment: Mr. Adams
Mr. Adams has a few bids on playground equipment options. One was $46,481 and includes installation and the other one was $86,000 and is a bit bigger. Both bids include a main structure with some other smaller pieces as well. We can pick to keep or remove any of the extra pieces. Mr. Adams is going to keep looking for some more options and present them to the younger grade teachers. We are looking to replace the main structure. Some of the other small pieces on our existing playground are still working and okay to keep. The district will remove the old equipment. Mr. Adams will find out if the district installs or if the company has to do the installation. The PTA and school are going to split the cost of the playground equipment. Mr. Adams will contact the Foundation to see if we are up for the $5000 grant. The PTA wants to be able to donate a large portion of money and still keep enough money in the budget for the PTA for the 2022-2023 school year. The PTA’s goal is between $25,000 and $35,000. The question was brought up if we want to try and purchase this year or fundraise one more year to get something bigger. Also, what impact will the removal of the old equipment have on the students? Can we secure and price and installation date if we decide to move forward this year? When can it be installed? Mr. Adams is going to push for a summer installation date when the time is ready for installation. Mr. Adams will find out answers to these questions. If the Fun Run is as successful as last year we might be able to get the main equipment and maybe a wall ball too.

Book Fair: Val Fielding
Book Fair is coming up February 7th-11th. Spread the word that Val is looking for volunteers for the Book Fair. Also, if Book Fair volunteers need to cancel they need to contact Val directly because she isn’t notified by canceling online. Val is also compiling a list of volunteers to contact at the last minute if there are cancelations. It was suggested to make a list and schedule for kindergarten parents at the time when their student is in class

Fun Run: Karly Leishman
Suggested to have a picture of the new playground equipment or a rough price when advertising the Fun Run. Also, the money will go to playground equipment and field trips.

The Fun Run is scheduled for April 22nd with Kick Off on April 12th.
